Type Locality and Naming

Along the Kynyrs, Tamdytau, Central Kyzylkum. A.K. Bukharinidr., 1985 (122, pp. 80-81).

Synonym: Severokynyrskaya Suite, Северокынгырская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Polymictic sandstones (especially in the upper part), siltstone (aleurolites), claystones (argillites), conglomerates, gravelites, and lenses of limestones. Pebbles of basal conglomerates at the base of the section consist of amphibolites, jasper, quartz, limestones with Late Visean-Early Bashkirian foraminifera. Thickness 480m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

According to A.A., it unconformably overlies the Uchkuduktau Fm of Proterozoic

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Kynyr-Perm Fm.

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, Northeastern Tamdytau.

Fossils

In the upper half of the suite, young shoots of Calamites sp. - Silurian-Permian age are present.


Age 

Conditionally attributed to the Moscovian stage of the Middle Carboniferous by comparison with the Takhtatau Fm (443). According to other researchers (Sabdyushov et al., 1970; Aysanov et al., 1986; Savchuk et al., 1987; Mukhin et al., 1988), it is a constituent part of the Kynyr Fm.
